USER FRIENDLY TUTORIAL

  • What is a spray tan?
Sunless Spray Tanning is the spray/mist application of Sunless Tanning Solution. When applied, DHA (The active ingredient in Sunless Tanning Solution) reacts with the proteins in the skin’s superficial layer to form a golden brown color.
  • How should I prepare for my spray tan session?
For best results, exfoliate and shave the day before or the day of your Sunless Spray Tanning Session. (The day before is preferred) The day of your Sunless Spray Tanning Session, refrain from using moisturizers, perfumes, lotions, oils or deodorants that may create a barrier between your skin and the Tanning Solution. (You may resume using these after your first shower)
  • If I plan on getting other beauty services, will that ruin my spray tan?
You will want to have any beauty services involving your skin performed prior to your spray tan, and prior to your shower/exfoliation to prep for your session. For example, manicure/nails, pedicure, waxing, facials etc. If you have these services performed after a spray tan, you may lose the color in that area.
  • How long do I have to wait to shower after my session?
Along with showering, you will also want to avoid swimming, or activities that will cause you to sweat for a minimum of 4 hours, and for optimal results 8 hours.
  • How long will a spray tan generally last?
You can expect your spray tan to last anywhere from 4 to 8 days depending on the products you use, and how often you shower. The color will gradually fade through natural exfoliation, just like a tan from the sun. Always keep your skin very moisturized after spray tanning for optimal results.
  • How long does it take for the Spray tan to develop?
Your skin begins to darken two to three hours after application, and reaches peak color within 24 hours. Prep is available for purchase, which cuts the development time in half!
  • What is Blending Cream?
Blending cream is provided free of charge in the room. Prior to entering the booth, you apply it like a lotion to areas of your body that tend to be dry, or absorb the solution more than other areas. It is to minimize, or completely block DHA absorption. It will help give a more even color to the areas where it is lightly applied, and will completely block the color on areas it is heavily applied. It should be evenly applied to the tops of your feet, heels, and whole hand like a hand cream. You may want to lightly apply it to your elbows and/or knees if they are dry. It should be heavily applied to your palms to block the color from absorbing. You can see how to apply it in the tutorial video above.
  • What should I wear to my session?
You will want to wear dark, loose fitting clothing.
  • What should I wear during my session?
You are in a private room and private booth, so what you wear is up to you! If you don't want any tan lines, you will not want to wear any undergarments. Otherwise you may wear your choice of undergarments/swimwear. Please note: Bronze solution contains cosmetic bronzers that may stain fabrics.
  • Is it safe to spray tan during pregnancy?
It is recommended that you consult with your physician.
  • How do I know which solution to choose?
You will be asked if you'd like BRONZE OR CLEAR? The end result will be the same for the clear or bronze solution. The bronze shows up immediately as it contains instant cosmetic color, however this solution can come off on clothing, so we usually recommend the clear solution if you do not want or need instant results. The clear solution goes on clear, so you will not look any different when exiting the booth. You will start to see the color gradually develop in about 4 hours, and it will be at the max color 24 hours from the session.
  • What is the $5 prep add-on?
We always recommend prep! Prep will be an extra cycle in the booth that sprays on before the spray tan. It works like a primer to a paint job or your makeup routine, leaving the skin with a more even surface for the spray tan to adhere to, plus helps it develop faster, look more even, and fade more even. It helps to balance the pH in your skin for the solution to appear as even as possible.
  • What is the $5 moisturizer add-on?
Moisturizer is an extra cycle in the booth that sprays on after the spray tan. It locks in the spray tan and helps extend color development.
  • How do I know which level (1, 2, 3, or 4) to choose for my first time?
We usually recommend a level 2 for your first time, unless you are nervous about trying it or have really fair skin – then we recommend a level 1 since it is light (basically just a “glow”). Level 2 is the best guideline because if it was too light, you can try a level 3 next time. If it was a tiny bit darker than you wanted, then next time you would try a level 1. The level 4 is recommended for experienced spray tanners only, as it is the darkest spray tan available. This is only for people that have used the machine before and know how the spray tan reacts with their skin. The difference between the levels, is just that the booth will spray a heavier mist/more solution as you go up each level.
  • How should I maintain my spray tan?
It is best to avoid chlorine and stay very moisturized. You will want to use a moisturizing body wash verses soap, a soft wash cloth or sponge rather than a rough loofah. You will want to wait to exfoliate until it starts to fade, or you are trying to remove the spray tan.
